May 2012 Newsletter

The Club will be closed for Victoria Day Monday, May 21st.

Friday, May 11th is a School-Based PD Day. We will offer a full day camp, pending registration. Registration closes May 3rd.

Mondays & Tuesdays
Baking and Cooking runs every Monday and Tuesday in Boys and Girls Crews, teaching our members how to cook and bake in a healthy way, altering recipes and taking food home for themselves and their family!

Wednesdays
In partnership with the IWK, we participated in the week-long initiative “Live & Unplugged”, vowing to decrease out screen time, increase our physical activity and try new healthy food choices. The week was so successful we are implementing it weekly.

Thursdays
Club members are encouraged to join the Learning Links program, heading over to the Captain William Spry Public Library to get help with their school work or to have fun in a supportive learning environment.

Arts & Crafts are offered throughout the week, encouraging the members to express themselves artistically.

Now that it is warming up, we have Outdoor Fun whenever the weather permits. From sports in the yard, trips to the skate park and nearby playgrounds, nature walks, and hopefully soon bike rides, the members are encouraged to participate in a healthy lifestyle. Please provide your child with sunscreen for the warmer days.

Parent Manuals with all of our policies regarding Boys and Girls Clubs rules and regulations will be available this month.

We would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to Peter J. McNair Plumbing & Heating, who offered their exceptional services in our time of need.

Summer Camp Registration for Club Members started April 30th and will open to the general public on May 7th 2012.  Book your spots now!
